Tyler, The Creator’s “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” Has Arrived

Billboard News Today

After teasing his involvement with the The Grinch soundtrack last month (Sept. 18), Tyler, The Creator’s “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” remake was officially released in full on Wednesday (Oct. 24).

“You’re a mean one/ You really are a heel/ Your as cuddly as a cactus/ Your as charming as an eel/ Mr. Grinch,” the 27-year-old raps with some help from the choir. It’s not the only contribution from the Flower Boy rapper to the soundtrack, who penned another original record titled “I am the Grinch” for the project.

The soundtrack, which was scored by famed Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman, is slated to drop alongside the motion picture on Nov. 9.

Creators of the animated film tapped even deeper into the hip-hop world to help with The Grinch, as Pharrell will serve as the movie’s narrator and the legendary Run-DMC also crafted a pair of songs in “Christmas Is” and “Christmas in Hollis,” which both landed on the flick’s soundtrack.

The weekend of Nov. 9 should wind up being pretty historic for Tyler, since the following day (Nov. 10) kicks off his star-studded Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
