Many fashion fans are still mourning the loss of the old Celine. (Make that Céline.) With Phoebe Philo out and Hedi Slimane in, the French house has done a complete 180, transitioning from a line that was made for women by women – Philo championed unexpected tailoring that was both grown-up and cool – to one that fits Slimane’s wheelhouse, all hyper-sexy and youth culture focused. Since entering the new era, many sentimentalists and Phoebe devotees are following the @oldceline Instagram page, which has since grown its audience to 207,000. The account continues to dedicate posts to Philo’s collections, highlighting the best of her archival pieces. And now, it appears Rihanna may be double-tapping some of these ’grams – she just stepped out in a coat from Philo’s very last collection.
Spotted in New York City over the weekend, Rihanna was snapped wearing a fur trench from Celine’s pre-fall 2018 collection, which was presented last January. The winter-white style proved a cozy option for the polar vortex in Manhattan right down to the plushy belt. The singer kept the monochromatic theme going with a white top and skirt, and accessorised with a white top-handle bag in croc, and chunky white sneakers. In true bad gal style, Rihanna finished off the look with layered necklaces and superstar-worthy sunglasses.
