Live Nation has donated more than 1 million tickets to veterans since launching its partnership with the Veteran Tickets Foundation, Vet Tix, the company announced today (March 5).
The milestone solidifies Live Nation’s place as the top donor to Vet Tix, a national nonprofit founded in 2008 which gifts free tickets to concerts, sporting events and other activities to currently serving military and all veterans. Live Nation has provided Vet Tix with more than $75 million worth in tickets since 2014; to date, the nonprofit has doled out more than 6 million tickets across the nation.
“Live Nation is incredibly proud to be a partner of Vet Tix, and we’re honored to have helped over 1 million service members and their families create life-long memories together at our concerts and events,” says Michael Rapino, CEO and president of Live Nation Entertainment, in a release. “We know how powerful live music can be, and will continue doing everything we can to share those experiences with our veterans who have given so much.”
Last year, Ticketmaster also created custom ticketing software to update the nonprofit’s platform, simplifying the ticket donation process for artists, venues, theaters and clubs while making it easier for vets to see ticket availability in real time.
“The support and passion for the Vet Tix mission by the Live Nation and Ticketmaster teams has been vital to our success,” says Vet Tix CEO and founder Mike Focareto. “The 1 million tickets donated by Live Nation translates into endless smiles and memories for VetTixers. In many cases, their support also assists veterans, service members and first responders in coping with their post-traumatic stress challenges which leads to positive experiences by attending concerts with family and friends. We can’t thank them enough.”
Vet Tix isn’t the only way Live Nation is supporting veterans: Since 2017, the company has been an official partner of veterans’ hiring organization Got Your 6, and the company also recently launched Hero Nation, a resource program for veteran employees.
