The Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey, has officially taken her throne as “All I Want For Christmas Is You” becomes the Number One song on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Billboard’s Global 200 chart.
The queen of Christmas is back to reign another year. Mariah Carey’s timeless hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has returned to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for a second year in a row.
The single, which was first released on Carey’s Merry Christmas album back in 1994, went No. 1 for the first time ever last December and spent three weeks at the top spot. That historical achievement made Carey the first person in history to have a number one single in four separate decades (90s, 00s, 10s and 20s). This is now the fourth total week that the track has been atop the Hot 100 chart, “tying for the most time at No. 1 among holiday hits in the chart’s 62-year history,” according to Billboard.
On Monday (Dec. 14), Carey took to Twitter to react to the news. “WOW! I truly wasn’t expecting this at all!!” she wrote. “Eternally grateful for the enduring success of this song. ‘I don’t want a lot for Christmas…’ just wishing for a bit more JOY and some holiday spirit for all, especially this year. Merry Christmas! Love, MC.”
Last year, the “We Belong Together” singer celebrated the song’s 25th anniversary by releasing a star-studded video with some of her celebrity friends singing along to the hit track. The video included Nick Cannon, Kim Kardashian West, James Corden, Brandy, Ciara, Ariana Grande, Floyd Mayweather, Chance The Rapper, Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Tyler Perry and more.
She shared the clip on Instagram and wrote, “WOW! This is one of the best Christmas gifts I could ever have gotten. I am so thankful to all of my friends and favorite artists who participated in this video. You brought a huge smile to my face. THANK YOU!”
It ain’t Christmas if “All I Want For Christmas Is You” isn’t playing somewhere.
