An unhinged man was arrested in Queens early Sunday after allegedly stalking a woman on the subway — and slashing three passengers who tried to help her, police and sources told The Post.
Abdul Nurdeen was nabbed at about 2 a.m. at the 39th Avenue N Train station in Long Island City for the unprovoked attack, the NYPD said.
The melee kicked off when a 27-year-old woman spotted a man holding a knife on the train at the Lexington Avenue/59th Street station in Manhattan, police sources said.
The man started ranting as the train headed toward Queens — and the woman got off the train at the next stop, Queensboro Plaza, and moved a few cars down to get away from him.
But the creep followed her — and eventually sat down right next to her, the sources said.
Two other women who were on the train noticed what was going on and waved the woman over in an effort to help.
As she walked toward them, she indicated that the man had a knife, which is when he allegedly went berserk, “swinging and lunging” at the three women and trying to stab them, the sources said.
The woman was able to duck to safety but both female passengers and a third male straphanger were allegedly hurt by the suspect during the struggle, according to the sources.
Their injuries were minor and all three refused medical attention at the scene, the sources said.
The passengers were ultimately able to subdue the man until cops arrived. The perp, later identified as Nurdeen, was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital, the sources said.
He was hit with a number of charges, including two counts of assault, the NYPD said.
