Ghislaine Maxwell Losing Sleep In Jail So She Doesn’t Die Like Jeffrey Epstein
As she awaits a trial on July 12 on charges of procuring teenage girls for Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse, Ghislaine Maxwell is said to be losing sleep in jail as officials ensure she doesn’t die like Epstein — who allegedly hung himself before his trial for sex trafficking and other offenses.
Maxwell’s lawyers claim their client deserves to be released on bail, which has been denied three times, due to her “horrific” jail conditions. They say Maxwell barely sleeps and is forced to wear a sock over her eyes as guards walk past her cell with flashlights every 15 minutes, ensuring she doesn’t commit suicide. While two of three 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judges are concerned of her sleep deprivation as well, they did not seem inclined to free the 59-year-old, which suggests she may be suicidal.
As we previously reported, Maxwell was arrested in July 2020 and has since pleaded not guilty to helping Epstein recruit and groom three teenage girls from 1994 to 1997, and sex trafficking for grooming and paying a fourth for nude massages and sex acts from 2001 to 2004. Maxwell, who’s been federally charged with sex trafficking of a minor, faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted.
