Longtime ‘CSI’ star hospitalized after getting sick on set

Longtime “CSI” star William Petersen fell ill on the set of “CSI: Las Vegas” and was taken away by ambulance.

William’s rep confirmed that the actor was hospitalized briefly, but he is now home and feeling much better.

TMZ said William was on the Los Angeles set of the long-running CBS show on Aug. 20 when he told the director he needed a break because of the way he was feeling. But, the director soon realized that William was experiencing a rather significant illness and an ambulance was called.

Out of an abundance of caution, William, who plays Gil Grissom on “CSI,” was taken to a medical facility. Still, the report conveys that the illness was serious enough to call medics.

What caused the illness isn’t totally known, but the actor’s rep implied that overexertion or exhaustion was the culprit, citing William’s grueling schedule over the past two weeks.
