A$AP Ferg has joined the roster of Roc Nation, who will now manage the rapper’s music career. According to Variety, the Harlem native signed a management deal with JAY-Z’s label and is already preparing for the release of his new single.
“It has always been a dream to work with JAY-Z,” Ferg said in a statement. “For decades I have looked up to the moves he’s made with his diverse range of business ventures but especially with companies like Roc-A-Fella and Roc Nation. His ability to build brands and create teams alongside leaders like Jay Brown is unmatched, and it feels good to be officially a part of the family.”
According to the outlet, A$AP Ferg is still signed to A$AP Worldwide/ Polo Grounds Music/ RCA Records; he will exclude the A$AP from his name for solo projects, one of which is expected to come out next week. The track, which will be produced by the Neptunes, is slated to drop on Oct. 29.
After being introduced to the world as a member of the A$AP Mob, A$AP Ferg launched his solo career in 2013 with Trap Lord, which includes platinum selling singles “Shabba” and “Work (Remix)” featuring A$AP Rocky. Years later, he dropped what is now his most successful hit to date, his five-time platinum selling record “Plain Jane.” The rapper additionally scored two gold records, most recently landing on the Billboard Hot 100 with the Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO-assisted “Move Ya Hips,” which peaked at No. 19.
Ferg’s success, however, extends beyond music as he’s landed partnerships with the likes of Adidas, Hennessy, Tiffany & Co. and more. Back in August, he linked with Snapple to release a documentary and accompanying merch line, which highlights the importance of bodegas in the Big Apple.
