A high-school teen fatally gunned down three students at their Michigan school Tuesday and wounded at least six more people in the rampage, authorities said.
Law enforcement said they responded to 911 calls reporting an active shooting at Oxford High School about 30 miles north of Detroit at 12:51 p.m., according to local media reports.

Police said the alleged gunman, a 15-year-old sophomore at the school, was taken into custody within five minutes of the calls.
A semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene.
“We received over 100 911 calls to our dispatch,” Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said at a briefing at the scene.
“The deputies took a suspect into custody within five minutes of the original 911 call,” McCabe said. “They recovered a handgun from the suspect. The suspect fired multiple shots. There’s multiple victims.”

“It’s unfortunate that I have to report that we have three deceased victims right now who are all believed to be students,” he added. “We have six others that were shot. One was a school teacher.”
McCabe said the accused gunman asked for a lawyer and has refused to be questioned by investigators.

He said authorities are scouring social media for any clues as to the motive.
“As we learn the full details, my heart goes out to the families enduring the unimaginable grief of losing a loved one,” President Joe Biden said of the shooting on Tuesday.
“You gotta know that that whole community has to be just in a state of shock right now,” he said.
The school had been placed on lockdown amid the carnage, according to an alert of an “active emergency” that was sent out to parents.
Students were later taken to a nearby grocery store, where they were picked up by their parents.

“I’m shocked,” Oxford Community Schools Superintendent Tim Throne said during the afternoon briefing. “It’s devastating.”
One student, 15-year-old freshman Isabel Flores, told WJBK-TV that she and other students heard the gunshots and saw one student bleeding from the face.
Robin Redding, a 12th-grade parent at the school, said her son stayed home Tuesday — adding that she had heard “for a long time now” that there were plans for a possible shooting at the school.
“This couldn’t be just random,” she said.
“Kids just, like they’re just made at each other at this school,” Redding said,
“You’re not supposed to play about that,” she said. This is real life.”
