Shooting aboard California greyhound bus leaves one dead, several injured

One person was killed and at least four others wounded in a shooting on a greyhound bus in California on Wednesday night, officials said.

The gunfire erupted aboard the bus that was parked outside of a convenience store in the city of Oroville at about 7:35 p.m. local time, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.

One victim died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Oroville Mayor Chuck Reynolds said in a Facebook post that a total of 5 people were shot.

Before authorities arrived at the scene of the shooting, the gunman fled to a nearby Walmart.

Witnesses at the store called 911 to report the suspect’s location, the sheriff’s office said.

Responding officers determined the suspect inside Walmart was the same one who fled the Greyhound bus.

The mayor said there was some sort of fight inside the store, but no shots were fired, CBS 13 reported.

The suspect, who was described by Reynolds as “incoherent,” was arrested and jailed.
