Gucci Reveals Adidas Collaboration At Milan Fashion Week Show

( Vogue.com )

Milan Fashion Week only started a couple of days ago, but it’s already served us countless internet-breaking moments – from Bella and Gigi Hadid dressed as furniture for Moschino, Kendall Jenner rocking red hair and Fendi’s itsy-bitsy, teeny tiny bags, to today’s much-anticipated reveal of what is surely set to be the hottest collab of the year: Adidas x Gucci.

There have been rumours about a possible collaboration between the two brands for a few months now, but today’s Gucci AW22 show confirmed the news by sending models down the runway in high-fashion pieces featuring both the signature GG monogram and three-stripe logos

With a gleaming, pregnant Rihanna sat front row alongside partner ASAP Rocky, who carried a classic Gucci monogrammed trunk, the Italian fashion house put on a spectacular show entitled ‘Exquisite’ and set within a hall of mirrors.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele’s show notes read: ‘I use the metaphor of the magical mirror to approach the phantasmagorical power of fashion. A sacred power that radiates from the surface of the fabrics. And there I work, on this tactile surface, through cross references, alterations, loopholes and grafts. Juxtaposing worlds and meanings. Altering the stability of perception. Manipulating and magnifying the existing.’

And what could be more of a juxtaposition than Gucci’s glorious tailoring embellished with the sporty Adidas logo? Michele teased the collab by sending the first models out in classic Adidas trainers, before giving us the goods we’d been waiting for: exquisitely cut, modern suiting featuring the lateral three stripes, adidas-embroidered knitwear, sporty-chic dresses and ultra-covetable accessories including hats, bags, gloves and shoes.

Let the countdown to the on-sale date begin…
