WJLA – A Greenbelt, Md. couple returned from vacation to find two people lying in their bed and all of their personal property missing.
Police say that on April 5, the couple returned to their home in the 9300 block of Edmonston Road and noticed their front door was damaged and the apartment was completely empty. They located two suspects, a Black male adult and a white female, lying on a bed, which also happened to be the the only piece of furniture still in the home.
The two suspects told the couple they took all of their property and became aggressive with the victims before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.
When the victims left their residence on March 28, 2022, the apartment was fully furnished, but upon returning, the living room was completely empty, except for black trash bags filled with items and trash on the walls. They say the kitchen was completely empty and the cabinet doors were missing, while the second bedroom was completely empty, the closets were completely empty and the primary bedroom was empty except for the bed on which the suspects were lying.
“I can’t imagine that happening,” says nearby apartment resident Betty Morgan.
Betty and Toussaint Morgan are just as stunned as everyone else in this complex.
“I’m still shocked. Truly shocked to hear that happened right next to us and it’s a little scary,” Betty Morgan said.
Betty Morgan says she assumed someone else had moved into the apartment.
“I actually saw appliances lying out in the front. I thought they were replacing them not taking them,” she said.
You can still see damage to the front sliding door of the apartment. The Morgans say they never saw the suspects use the front door – only the sliding door.

Now, the apartment sits vacant. Neighbors say the tenants recently moved out.
Morgan concludes, “Well, I don’t think we’ll be going on vacation until we get out of here.”
Both victims stated that they did not know the two suspects and say they lost approximately $49,100 in property.
