A TikTok video documenting how a one-day family outing to Universal Orlando Studios in Florida set it back more than $1,100 went viral over the weekend, generating more than 1.5 million views.
Miranda Pearce, a British marketing expert, flew with her husband and their two young sons to the Orlando theme park.
“The cost of 1 day at Universal Studios,” the caption read against the backdrop of a photo of the family.
The family paid $483.66 for tickets plus an additional $396 for Fast passes, which allows visitors to skip the line at some of the rides.
Pearce and her husband also paid $62.79 for lunch; $42.60 for souvenirs; $36.39 for dinner; $27 to park their car; $21.79 for breakfast; $19.76 for ice cream: $19.16 for drinks; and $4.25 for coffee.
“That’s not even including tips,” Pearce wrote. She added the dollar sign, surprised face, and eyebrows raised emojis.
The commenters on TikTok who responded to the video were shocked at the exorbitant price tag.
One responder wrote that the family “could have gone away to Portugal for a week and rented a villa for that.”
Another commenter wrote: “[Universal] absolutely fleece[s] their guests.”

One TikTok user remarked that it would be much cheaper to fly to Turkey and stay at an all-inclusive hotel for three nights.
Another commenter wrote that she and her partner are “starting an Orlando fund to take our 2 kids but I fear no matter how much we save we just won’t be able to afford it.”
The Post has sought comment from Universal.

Earlier this year, a survey conducted by the home rental firm HomeToGo found that the most affordable theme park in the US was Tropic Falls at OWA in Alabama.
The survey took into account the total costs including tickets, parking and accommodations. One adult looking to book a trip to Tropic Falls would have to pay just $22.49 for a ticket and $72.67 per night for accommodations.
Parking was free of charge.

Universal Studios in Orlando ranked 22nd on the list. A ticket costs an average adult $129 while parking costs $27. A nightly stay would set an adult back $48.14.118
