Christina Applegate gained 40 pounds, ‘can’t walk without a cane’ amid MS battle

Christina Applegate revealed she has gained 40 pounds and “can’t walk without a cane” after her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

“This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am,” the actress, 50, told the New York Times on Monday of the upcoming third and final season of “Dead to Me.”

Applegate noted that she is “very aware of” her changes in appearance and mobility.

“I’m never going to accept this,” she admitted. “I’m pissed.”

The Emmy winner went on to say that she has had to “process the loss of [her] life” and is still not “totally fine.”

The interview came one year after Applegate began sharing her MS battle.

“A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS,” the Tony nominee, who shares 11-year-old daughter Sadie with husband Martyn LeNoble, tweeted in August 2021.

“It’s been a strange journey,” she added at the time. “But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition.”

The actress was diagnosed with MS in 2021.

Applegate asked for “privacy” with her “tough road” ahead, writing, “As we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a–hole blocks it.”

While the “Married… with Children” alum subsequently stayed out of the public eye, she did give a health update while celebrating her birthday three months later.

“Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS,” she wrote via Twitter in November 2021. “It’s been a hard one.”

With “Dead to Me” returning to Netflix on Nov. 17, Applegate has recently been gearing up for her first public event, posting a photo last month of the walking sticks that have become her “new normal.”
