2022 midterm election results map: Live updates from across US

Follow along on our 2022 midterm election results map as House, Senate and gubernatorial races are decided across the country on Election Night and in the following days.

More than 122 million Americans voted in the 2018 midterm elections, the most in decades, and early voting totals indicated the 2022 midterms were on track to match or exceed that total.

The first polls close at 6 p.m., but some key results are not expected for several hours or days due to differences in how states and other jurisdictions process ballots.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are on the line, with Republicans needing to flip a net of five seats to regain control after four years in the minority.

In the Senate, both parties are looking to break the 50-50 deadlock that has been in place for the past two years, with tight races in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania holding the likely key to a majority. Recent polls also indicate surprisingly close races in Democrat-held New Hampshire, while Republicans will need to hold open seats in North Carolina and Ohio to consider the night a success.

In addition, 36 gubernatorial elections are being held across the US, including an unexpectedly close contest in New York between Democrat Kathy Hochul and GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin. Elsewhere, Republicans are also looking to regain the governors’ mansions in Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Wisconsin.
